It’s no secret that getting older can be both a blessing and a curse. With aging comes wisdom, maturity, and stories and experiences reflecting a life well lived! Aging can also bring about some not-so-pleasant companions. As our bodies begin to slow down and not quite work the way they used to, some might begin to experience weight gain. Weight gain could be due to a less active lifestyle, but that’s not the only reason people gain weight with age. Hormones also play an enormous role! Hormones are chemical messengers that allow cells to communicate with each other throughout the body. They play key roles in most of our body’s regular functions. As we age, our hormone levels can begin to drop or become unbalanced, bringing with it a bevy of unpleasant side effects, including weight gain!

Trying to lose weight amid hormone imbalance would feel very much like an uphill battle. Studies show that low estrogen levels can cause slower metabolism and lead to less physical activity and more food consumption, all factors leading to weight gain. Studies also show that low testosterone levels in men can lead to weight gain, particularly in the midsection, causing the dreaded “beer belly.” Low testosterone also seems to cause fatigue, which doesn’t help when someone is trying to lose weight!

What Are Bioidentical Hormones?

You may be thinking, “So is that it? Do I have to accept this as my fate?” The answer to that is absolutely not! Luckily, some therapies can reestablish hormone balance within the body. Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, or BHRT, uses medications to replace and replenish hormones that have decreased in the body to promote normal bodily functions. BHRT uses synthetic plant-derived molecules that are structurally and chemically identical to human hormones. BHRT can be administered in various ways, including pills, creams, injections, patches, gels, and other forms. At MedHealth360, we believe the most effective way to administer BHRT is by pellet insertion. This reduces the need to remember to take a daily pill, there is precisely the correct dose, and it is consistently released into the body. There are several hormones that BHRT can help balance. Bioidentical Estrogen and Bioidentical Testosterone, in particular, are two of the hormones used to help men and women lose weight and get rid of stubborn belly fat.

How Can BHRT Help With Weight Loss?

It’s important to note that BHRT isn’t necessarily a “quick fix” for weight loss. To achieve a healthy weight, you will still need to exercise, eat a balanced diet, and maintain an overall healthy lifestyle. However, if your hormones are unbalanced, losing weight may be an unattainable goal despite your efforts. That is why balancing your hormones and BHRT is so essential. It allows your body to function the way it is supposed to, so putting in the work to lose weight will make a difference!
