Many times, when people consider undergoing a plastic surgery, they are concerned about the perceived stigma that surrounds it. You may worry that you are the only one concerned with the effect the passing of time is having upon your skin, or your hair color. But you are not alone.

You may be surprised at the remarkably well-known people who have undertaken to fight the aging process while in the public eye. It’s been speculated that people like Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, and even former president Ronald Reagan have utilized plastic surgery and other methods to retain their youth during their political campaigns.

Of course, most of these highly successful and renowned personalities have not made an official statement confirming or denying the plastic surgery speculations…but you don’t have to be a doctor to know that there must be some “secret ingredient” that is keeping them from aging quite as fast as the rest of us.

It's All About That Face (Lift)

There’s something to be said about age being a sign of wisdom, and perhaps many people are comfortable voting for men and women whose age is a testament to their experience, but perhaps certain procedures such as a facelift, or an eyelid lift would make the tanned skin or blonde hair (looking at you, Elizabeth Warren) on the more aged politicians a bit more believable.

An eyelid lift, called a blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes saggy or loose skin in the upper eyelid area and/or addresses puffy skin below the eyes. It is an easy way to change one of the most crucial areas of your face. A facelift, or a mini-facelift, uses these five principles, any of which can be emphasized or downplayed to fit your specific needs and desired outcome.

  1.  Producing natural results is the most important principle
  2. Restore facial volume (facial fillers like juvederm, voluma, or fat transfer)
  3. Tighten skin if needed (facelift, forehead lift, temple lift, upper and lower eyelid lift, neck lift)
  4. Restore aging skin appearance (laser skin rejuvenation with BBL, Micropeel, Profractional, and/or PRP)
  5. Quiet hyperactive muscles (botox for horizontal forehead lines, vertical glabellar lines, or crows feet)

Have We Found the Secret? It's All in the Hands

Hilary Clinton has been in the public eye and on the political scene for literally decades. And while she has not proved to be ageless, she definitely has found some way to get around the usual effects of gravity and time. Her hair color is likely supported by some products, and there may be some botox or other interventions assisting her maintenance of a “gracefully mature” look.

Many people focus their efforts on their faces, or their hair, but the true secret to preserving an ageless look is to undergo a hand rejuvenation. Hand rejuvenation uses injectable fillers, a fat transfer, and/or nonsurgical laser treatments to restore volume and diminish hyperpigmentation.

The eyes may be the window of the soul, but it is easy to look down from a youthful face to see a hand with spots or wrinkles, which are a dead giveaway. Especially for politicians who spend many debates gesturing wildly, it may serve them well to shift their focus away from the face and a little further south.

The Neck That Moves the Head

Nancy Pelosi is another woman often seen on the political scene who causes quite a stir with her immovable eyebrows and other unchanging looks. She has not made a certain statement either affirming or denying a foray into plastic surgery, but again, it’s pretty obvious that her “ice queen” demeanor is not simply a gift of genetics.

To reiterate, many people focus on the seemingly obvious evidence of aging, such as the face or hair, but a simple neck lift is actually an option to consider that can make or break a look. Neck liposuction is less invasive than traditional neck surgery because it utilizes lipo to reduce isolated pockets of fat for a smoother contour.

The Subtle Art of Subtlety

It is difficult to be an American in this day and age and not have a fascination with, or at least curiosity about, President Donald Trump and his amazing haircut. For a man who is pushing 70 years, he has a remarkable amount of non-gray hair, though the White House has not made an official statement on whether or not Mr. Trump’s hairstyle is natural or if he has had some assistance.

While it’s easy to speculate on political candidates efforts to retain their youth, and some may be more obvious than others, many politicians choose the more subtle route. There is nothing faker or worse than a very obvious botox job, or facelift gone wrong. There is a difference between attempting to recreate your youth, and slightly supporting or enhancing the body you currently have…and it’s easy to find a candidate for both understated and not-so-subtle procedures.

That is why it is so critical, once you have decided it’s time to pursue plastic surgery, to do your research, and go with a Board-certified plastic surgeon, who’s goal is to enhance the amazing features you already have, giving you results that are as organic-looking as possible.
