CoolSculpting Procedure Technique
While this noninvasive technique has shown to be beneficial for both men and women of different age groups, those who will benefit the most from CoolSculpting:
- Are at or near a healthy weight range
- Struggle with difficult areas of fat that don't respond to exercise and diet efforts, most commonly on the abdomen, arms, thighs, buttock, flanks, and back
- Don't want or are not good candidates for more invasive procedures
- Want to avoid the downtime and expense associated with surgery
- Understand realistic goals for the results of their procedure
Following your initial appointment with Dr. Chang to customize your CoolSculpting treatments, your first procedure will be planned. During your procedure, a gel pad and the CoolSculpting handpiece is used on the predetermined area and cryolipolysis will start. The cooling technology, delivered by the applicator, will begin to attack and freeze the fat. You will likely experience a cold sensation at the time of your procedure, but this does not typically create discomfort. Because the CoolSculpting applicator uses suction to pull the targeted fat cells toward the predetermined treatment area, you should prepare to experience a small amount of pressure during treatment. This is a normal sensation felt with the device and is not painful for patients.
What to Expect with CoolSculpting®
Since CoolSculpting is noninvasive, you can expect to return to standard activities following your procedure. Most often, patients can return to school or work immediately after their treatment. Many patients will experience some swelling, redness, and tenderness of the treated area, but these post-procedure symptoms diminish after a few hours. Expect to notice results within three weeks, while you will see the most obvious and dramatic results 1 – 3 months following your CoolSculpting procedure.
CoolSculpting Ideal Candidates
Just how much will CoolSculpting cost?
The expense of CoolSculpting varies based upon the number of sessions recommended and the quantity of fat that you wish to have removed. At your consultation, we'll discuss your cosmetic goals to choose the most appropriate course of action to achieve those results. We'll also speak with you regarding any out-of-pocket expenses.
How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting involves using a monitored temperature to destroy fat cells in predetermined body parts for treatment. Basically, it cools the cells while they die. The cells are broken up by your body and disposed of through natural bodily functions.
Is CoolSculpting safe?
CoolSculpting is a minimally invasive, topical procedure where the apparatus is applied to your skin’s surface. With this procedure, there's absolutely no need for a healing period. You might notice some minor swelling and discoloration immediately following the session, but that usually subsides in around one week.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions that will be needed to reach your desired outcome will be determined during your consultation. For many patients, just one treatment is sufficient, while others might require more therapy sessions, depending on the quantity of fat being addressed. The number of sessions depends on your aesthetic objectives and if you have larger layers of fat in target sections.
Can the fat cells grow back?
While the fat cells will not regrow, brand new fat cells could form. In addition, weight gain can impact your results. So in order to keep your outcomes looking great and at an optimal long after the treatment, it is important to adhere to a proper diet plan and workout regimen.
There is no "perfect" body and each of us has things we wish to change, such as specific areas of fat that will not respond to exercise and a healthy diet. Due to technological advances, it is no longer necessary to decide between dealing with the undesired fat and undergoing liposuction. Aesthetica Cosmetic Surgery & Laser Center is excited to offer Leesburg, VA patients CoolSculpting procedures to minimize sections of difficult fat without invasive procedures for a smaller, tauter shape. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Phillip Chang to find out if you qualify for CoolSculpting or whether a different treatment would better help you meet your aesthetic goals.
