The wonder of pregnancy and miracle of childbirth are no doubt awe-inspiring events that some women are blessed to experience. For some, its an incredible once-in-a-lifetime event. Others experience it multiple times over. Regardless of how many pregnancies a woman goes through, there is no question that a woman’s body is changed forever after having a baby.  Breasts inflate and deflate, tummies grow and shrink, and skin stretches. Some experience feeling of loss over their old bodies after having a child. Even with diet and exercise, things don’t always bounce back to their former glory.

Many women are turning towards a Mommy Makeover when they are finished having children. A Mommy Makeover is a combination of procedures (breast lift, breast augmentation, reduction, liposuction, tummy tuck, botox, etc.) to help a woman get her pre-pregnancy body back and obtain an overall rejuvenated look and feel.

Mommy Makeover Expectations And Results

Undergoing a mommy makeover means that you will only have one surgery which means only one prep and recovery time for multiple procedures. Breasts and tummy are the most popular target areas for the procedure, but any area can be worked on. It’s up to the patient and doctor. After the procedure, you will enjoy firm, lifted breasts; a leaner, tighter tummy; and you will feel like you have your old body back!

The procedure also helps many moms feel younger and more rejuvenated, which helps with confidence. Seeing a better version of yourself in the mirror can help you be stronger for your family and more confident in your day to day life.

Popular Mommy Makeover Procedures

Each woman’s body responds differently to the rigors of pregnancy and thus will require different procedures to achieve the desired end results. Typically there is some combination of the following procedures used in a Mommy Makeover:

Breast Augmentation:

One of the most common results of pregnancy and breastfeeding (particularly, multiple babies) is the loss of volume and shape in breasts. This makes an augmentation one of the most popular procedures in a Mommy Makeover. After consulting with your surgeon, a combination of a lift and implants will be used to reshape the breast and to return size and volume. Some women with larger breasts may benefit from a lift and reduction in order to reshape and remove excess weight on the back.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck):

A post-pregnancy stomach is another often targeted area. Pregnancy can stretch the skin and underlying muscles, leaving a less-toned belly. A tummy tuck can remove excess skin and tighten muscles leaving a more fit, toned-looking tummy. A tummy tuck can also be customized depending on the person. Sometimes only a mini-tuck is needed; other times a much more extensive procedure is needed to remove excess skin. If you struggle with loose skin on your upper tummy, a reverse tuck is also an option.

In most cases, liposuction can be used to help reshape and contour a woman’s body during the procedure. Liposuction can remove excess fat in trouble areas such as the stomach, lower back, hips, thighs, and other bothersome areas. Pregnancy tends to lend itself towards weight gain, particularly in places that it didn’t exist before.

Skin Rejuvenation

Many women opt for non-invasive facial procedures such as Botox or dermal fillers to combat some of the dull, tired looking skin left behind by pregnancy. These non-surgical treatments can give moms a fresher, younger look by taking away lines and plumping skin.

The Right Time For A Mommy Makeover

When considering a Mommy Makeover, make sure that you are finished growing your family. Being pregnant again can alter the results of the procedures. And once you are done having children, it is recommended that you wait at least 6 to 9 months after having your last child before having the procedure in order to give your body time to fully heal.

What Are the Costs of a Mommy Makeover?

Costs vary depending on what you are having done, your surgeon’s fee, cost of implants, and facility expenses. They can range from $10,000 to $ 30,000, but these are approximate costs. When you book your consultation, this will be discussed alongside the procedures you are interested in.
