So you’ve gotten that ring by spring! And once the grass is growing and flowers are blooming, you’re planning to tie the knot with the man of your dreams. Most brides plan a day to try on their gorgeous gown and do a “dry run” of their hair and make-up, so they can change anything they’re not lovin’ before the big day comes and it’s forever immortalized in wedding photo albums. But in addition to your dress, hair, and makeup, have you thought ahead to any cosmetic facial procedures you’d like done for your big day?

Studies have shown that more and more brides-to-be are adding visiting a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to their list of to-dos before their wedding day, and here’s why: These smart brides are thinking ahead to not only their wedding day, but also all the bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and rehearsal dinners that come along with all the flurry surrounding a wedding. There are so many huge events – that likely will have photographers documenting every second. What bride doesn’t want to be remembered as a glowing, happy, and healthy woman?

Add Injectables to Your Wedding Prep

Cosmetic injectables like Botox, Juvederm, or Voluma are the perfect choice for your wedding prep because they are long lasting and allow for easy maintenance of a natural, healthy look throughout all the required wedding events. More and more millennial brides are requesting fillers for their eyes, lips, and cheeks, to add a little natural enhancement to their facial features.

Researchers in the cosmetic surgery world are taking note of the trend. RealSelf, a website that keeps track of the popularity of different plastic surgeries, discovered that recently neuromodulators  – e.g. Botox – have accounted for 15% of pre-nuptial procedures that are not surgical, with injectable fillers following closely at over 14%. There has been an increase in using injectables not only for anti-aging, but also for enhancement of natural features – even in a younger crowd.

Injectables for Defined Faces

The “instaface” or Instagram-ready face – with high, contoured cheekbones, lusciously full lips, and silky smooth foreheads – is taking the internet and even the red carpet by storm. Celebrities are dipping into this trend, displaying injectables’ ability to fight age and add  dimension to any area of the face. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, filler treatments are increasingly being requested by people in the thirty-forty year age range. Hyaluronic acid injections, like Juvederm, are some of the most popular choices.

Bridal Testimonies: Yes to Injectables!

In one testimony from RealSelf, the bride-to-be shared how she decided to get lip filler injections 6 weeks before her wedding day. She explained that just a small amount of lip filler added volume, making her lipstick application just that much more fun.

She also got multiple treatments of minimal doses of Botox around her eyes, to make sure on her wedding day she was able to have a full range of movement, and a completely natural look. Because planning a wedding is demanding, and the days and weeks leading up to the big day can be jam-packed and stressful, this strategy of Botox treatment can make sure you look wide-awake and gorgeous when it’s time for you walk down the aisle.

Another bride wrote about how she made the choice to factor in a facial treatment in her wedding budget, and how she chose the time frame for the treatment. She had never gone for injections before, so she made sure to give herself plenty of recovery time as well as time to let fade before the big day, in case she didn’t love the final result.

She had her initial treatment done about four months before her wedding date, and ended up having such a fantastic experience that she scheduled another Botox session a month before her wedding.

Injectables for Photos You'll Love!

If you want to join the ranks of so many other brides prepping their faces for photos, make sure you give your doctor a call as soon as you get engaged. You want to make sure you are able to have your cosmetic treatments done on your ideal schedule before your wedding date. So set up those appointments as soon as possible. Make sure you have a board-certified plastic surgeon who is able to help you evaluate your goals, set up realistic expectations, and help you come up with the perfect treatment plan to get you glowing on your big day.

It’s a good idea to schedule your appointment at least a few weeks or more before your wedding, to give yourself time to recover from any swelling or bruising the treatment may leave you with. Some brides have rushed into the process, and ended up with lumps of filler in unattractive places, causing them to have oddly raised brows or lumpy lips. Taking time to make sure your doctor is a professional, and that you have time to sort out any post-operation issues you may encounter will assure you of amazing final results.
