If you’re over 25, you’ve probably noticed that your body is a-changin’. You might have some laugh lines, crows feet. Or, if your like me, you might be noticing some vertical lines between your eyebrows. Hey, age happens. And thankfully, more and more cosmetic surgery options exist for combatting the affects of time and gravity. And studies have shown that the average age of the crowds flocking to their plastic surgeon’s offices are getting younger and younger.
Facelifts are no longer the plastic surgery choice for the “really old.” Depending on your decade of life, you may not even need a full facelift procedure but could instead get what’s called a “mini-facelift.” Wondering if a mini-facelift could be for you? Well, you’re in luck because we’ve broken down the facelifts procedures most often recommended in particular decades of life – including the IDEAL decade for a mini-facelift (plus some awesome before and after photos)!
Do You Need a Mini Facelift in Your 30s & 40s?
If you’re in your late 30’s to early 40’s, you may begin to notice the signs of gravity at work. And the sooner you treat those symptoms, the less pronounced they’ll be as you continue to age. Many doctors are advising their clients to have their faces lifted sooner rather than later, to reduce the amount of rejuvenation required.
If you’re in this age bracket, a mini-facelift in your 30s or 40s might not be the option for you simply because you may not need it! Instead, you might want a Quicklift (a procedure that draws skin up from the along scalp to restore volume and tightness to the face) and/or fillers (to add volume to the cheeks or forehead) to refresh your lovely face.

A Mini-Facelift in Your 40's and 50's
If you have celebrated (or are approaching) your half-century birthday, it is likely that your seeing more and more pronounced signs of aging – particularly in the lower half of your face. You probably have what a plastic surgeon would call “mild to moderate facial laxity.”
One of the best options would be a mini-facelift, which is a unique type of facelift designed to treat the lower half of the face. This will address any issues surrounding the jowls, the nasolabial fold (smile lines), the marionette fold (laugh lines), and upper neck droopiness. This procedure is performed without general anesthesia (unless requested). An incision is made along the hairline, and the layer beneath the surface of the skin is tightened, to address any drooping skin.
You might want to have this procedure done in conjunction with an eyelid lift or facial fillers to encourage continuity in the aging process of the face! Or, adding a laser skin resurfacing treatment might just really complete your rejuvenated look. Talk to your plastic surgeon to decide what’s best for you!

A Facelift for Your 60's and Beyond
If you’re in your 60’s or beyond, a mini-facelift alone might not be the best option for you. At this stage in life, many people choose to receive a mini or full facelift and a neck lift, which completely addresses the issue of the “turkey waddle” which may be arising. An eyelid lift or additional fillers may be recommended as well, depending on the desired outcome and the doctor’s evaluation of the situation. And a skin rejuvenation procedure is often a good complement to all the skin lifting.
