Considering CoolSculpting, but feeling nervous about what to expect during and after? The treatment is surprisingly short and has little downtime. This is one of the reasons that so many cosmetic surgeons are implementing this treatment in their practice. It is effective and allows their patients to quickly get back to life as usual.

Keep reading to learn more about what the procedure is like and even watch a live video of the procedure!

What Happens Before And During a CoolSculpting Treatment?

Step 1: Are You A Good Candidate?

You will need to come in for an initial appointment to determine if you are a good candidate for CoolSculpting. A good candidate for CoolSculpting has fat that is pinchable. During the initial appointment, your nurse will try to pinch your trouble areas and determine whether or not the CoolSculpting device will be able to attach.

Step 2: Trouble Areas Are Marked And Applicators Attached

Once you’ve been cleared, the nurse will mark the troubles areas you discussed. The markings show them exactly where to place the CoolSculpting applicators.

After the applicators are placed, they turn on the machine and allow it to run a cycle. The area being treated will feel cold, but it shouldn’t hurt. Patients say CoolSculpting feels like suction, but quite comfortable. Most procedures last about 35 minutes

Step 3: The Area is Massaged

The final step of the procedure involved the nurse massaging your treated areas. This helps with lymphatic drainage and allows your body to remove the dead fat.

When To Expect CoolSculpting Results

You will see some results right after your treatment. Most patients can expect a 20-25% reduction in fat in the areas treated! The full CoolSculpting effect takes upwards of 6 months, but you will see big changes by the third week after treatment. Depending on the area you have treated, you may want to do the procedure more than once. The doctor will discuss with you the best options to get the results you want.
