Best Cosmetic Procedures Before Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! Whether you’re having a night in with your long-time love or you’re getting ready for a date with a new flame, you’ll want to look your best for the day that celebrates love. Just because the years are passing by, doesn’t mean that you need to feel any less beautiful than you did on your first ever Valentine’s date. Here are a few minor, non-invasive ways to really give you that first love glow!
Dermal Fillers for Fuller Faces
With each year that goes by, our skin can begin to lose its elasticity and start to look sallow and saggy. You may look in the mirror and see someone who looks like an older, more tired version of the person you feel like on the inside. Dermal fillers are used to plump and smooth out that tired looking skin to make your skin and face look as young as you feel.
Dermal fillers are great quick fixes that will provide fullness to the areas of your face that are lacking volume or are showing fine lines and wrinkles. A dermal filler works by being injected underneath the skin to plump up and “fill” the area out. Hyaluronic Acid is the most popular dermal filler, such as Juvederm products and Belotero Balance, because it is a substance produced by our own bodies to help skin retain moisture. It works best to treat:
- areas around the corners of the mouth,
- wrinkles that start on the outside of the nose and stretch to the mouth
- loose skin
- thin lips
Typically patients who get dermal fillers can go right back to normal activity the same day. Sometimes your doctor may tell you to take the rest of the day off though, and you may see some light bruising or swelling the first few days after the procedure. The results from dermal fillers can last up to 12 months.
Botox Injections for Reducing Wrinkles
You can have the best moisturizer, foundation, and silicon primer, but eventually you won’t be able to hide those lines between your eyebrows or crows feet around your eyes. Botox is common and non-invasive fix for wrinkles caused by muscle movement (like tensing your eyebrows together).
Botulinum toxin (Botox) works differently than dermal fillers because, when injected, it causes temporary paralysis in the muscles below the skin. This muscle paralysis smooths out the look of wrinkles. It is best used for:
- Horizontal wrinkles that form on the forehead
- Vertical lines between the eyebrows
- Crows feet around the outside of the eye
- Chin dimpling
- Horizontal neck bands
The results from Botox last around three to four months, but with repeated procedures the results begin to last longer with each treatment. As with dermal fillers, getting a botox injection is a quick procedure that will allow you to return to your regular life immediately. You may see some temporary swelling or bruising at the site of the injection, but it should not last long.
And P.S. if you suffer from Hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweat), Botox can help with that too. No one wants their underarm sweat to ruin a romantic evening.
If you find that your skin has been looking dull, a great way to fix that is an exfoliation treatment. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells that clog your pores and give your skin a listless look. There are several different types of exfoliation treatments ranging from microdermabrasion to a light chemical peel. They all will help skin surface flaws, such as uneven skin tone, blemishes, melasma, pigmentation issues and a number of other minor problems. Microdermabrasion can also help with stretch marks, minor scars and fine lines. If you opt for either of these treatments, make sure you give your skin up to 14 days to heal before you put on your date night make-up, as you may see some redness and irritation.
Lip Augmentation for Perfectly Kissable Lips
What’s better for Valentine’s Day than lovely, luscious lips painted Valentine Red? Could you imagine a better way to entice your Valentine than with the perfect, plump pout? As we age, our lips get thinner, but don’t despair! You can get a wonderful pout courtesy of lip fillers.
Getting a filler, such as Juvaderm, is a great way to give your lips the extra volume you’ve been looking for. You’ll be date night ready about 24 hours after the procedure. The best part is you can get your lips done while having Botox, so you can schedule all of your pre-Valentine procedures for the same day. It’s quick and relatively painless – and your lips are numbed up before the procedure. They will swell for the first 24 hours, so don’t make any plans that night. The fillers usually last for up to 9 months too.
