The Forever Young BBL Is The Newest Innovation In Anti-Aging. The Technology Is Not To Be Confused With The Photofacial IPL ( Intense Pulse Light ). Instead Of Using A Single Band Of Light, The BBL Uses Multiple Bands Of Light ( Broad Band ) With The Potential To Not Only Treating The Visible Signs Of Aging Such As Brown Sun Damage Spots, But It Also Has Been Shown To Reverse The Aging Changes In Cellular DNA

How Can Plastic Surgeons Help Your Skin Look Younger?

Crows Feet TreatmentWe live in an age of technological innovation. That innovation has now allowed many ways for plastic surgeons and dermatologist help patients look and feel younger. Some of these innovations include the development of botox and an array of facial fillers to add volume to aging faces and quiet hyperactive muscles that can cause deep wrinkles of the forehead, glabella, and crows feet areas. Many of these innovations have come in the form of an assortment of skin related lasers such as the Sciton Laser Platform which can tighten or improve the texture and quality of skin. But for the first time, one study has shown a relationship between the Broad Band BBL ( also called the Forever Young BBL ) and the reversal of DNA aging.

What is the Forever Young BBL used for?

BBL Therapy The  Forever Young BBL is used to treat and remove brown or age spots, red spots and patches, and broken capillaries.  If you are in your late thirties or older, try to imagine your skin without some of these imperfections.  It has the ability to clean up your skin and make it more radiant.  Patients will generally treat themselves to this 2 to 4 times a year with significantly better results than any facial or microdermabrasion, or creams could ever deliver.  The BBL treatment is often combined with more ablative laser systems to make your skin appear more youthful.

Research Shows that the BBL can reverse DNA aging?

Recent research performed at the Stanford University School of Medicine has shown that the broad band light from the Forever Young BBL can cause both short-term and long-term improvement in the appearance of DNA.  The research shows that the device induces changes in the actual DNA of skin cells that makes them act and appear like younger cells.

How Does the Forever Young BBL Work?

Unlike the single band of light used for in the Photofacial IPL, the Forever Young BBL uses broad bands of light.  The spectrum of light is somehow able to influence the development of cellular DNA.   DNA is a molecule in our cells which lies in the center of the cell in a structure called the nucleus:  Our DNA carries our genetic code and dictate how our cells develop and function.  DNA ages over time and is thought to control our overall biologic clock, ie.  how long we will live;  it becomes damaged by the environment and by the general aging process.  This aged DNA makes the cell perform less effectively and act as an “older” cell.  Interestingly, sun exposure, which contains UV radiation causes DNA to degenerate or even mutate over time.  Melanin which is associated with melanomas and skin cancers live in these deeper layers.

Broad Band Light is able to penetrate, repair, and rejuvenate

the DNA in the deepest layers of skin

A BBL treatment is able to penetrate down to the deepest, or “basal” layer of your skin.  The basal layer normally generates and gives rise to the cells above it.  The Forever Young BBL appears to be able to penetrate to this depth and influence the nature of its DNA.  By converting the DNA to a more youthful form, all the cells that are generated above it also will appear more youthful and healthy.

Some deeper rejuvenation procedures such as the Micro Laser Peel, the Profractional Laser Peel, and Laser Skin Resurfacing, are also able to fix this DNA damage by ablating the damaged cells which are subsequently replaced by new ones.   Ablative laser procedures, however, will require some recovery time and some time out of work.  The Forever Young, BBL, on the other hand, is a procedure that requires minimal or negligible down-time.

What makes the Stanford study truly groundbreaking is that it showed that BBL treatments have little to no down time and were able to stimulate skin cells back to a younger state by rejuvenating the actual genes and genetic code in the cells themselves.

Details about the Stanford Research on the Forever Young BBL

What makes the Stanford study truly groundbreaking is that it showed that BBL treatments have little to no down time and were able to stimulate skin cells back to a younger state by rejuvenating the actual genes and genetic code in the cells themselves. study examined 3 groups of patients before and after a BBL treatment.  The first group included young people who never had a BBL treatment before.  The second group included older people with sun-damaged and more aged skin, while the third group included older patients with sun-damaged skin who had undergone 3 BBL treatments over the course of 3 months.

Skin biopsies were then obtained from each of the three groups.  The DNA from the skin biopsies were then examined for markers that usually reflect younger skin cells.  Surprisingly, they found that aged skin treated with the broad band light BBL reverted to a younger state!  Half of the DNA of the aged skin that was treated with the BBL had reverted to a state resembling the DNA of the younger group.

These findings are particularly amazing because for the first time, we could see a correlation between the external or visible signs of aging like fine wrinkles, brown spots on the skin, ed spots, and broken capillaries with the DNA expression of these changes.  In other words, the more visible youthful visible appearance of the skin correlates with the more youthful appearance of their DNA.  A deeper healing at the genetic level was being evidenced.  And these findings are not found after a IPL photofacial treatment

Quick Facts about the Forever Young BBL

  1.  No downtime for most patients –  Most patients can return to work the next day.  Some patients with a lot of sun damage will absorb more heat which will result in longer swelling
  2. Fast treatment time – The average treatment time is 15 minutes for a full face
  3. Useful for the whole body – The treatment can also be used to treat the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.
  4. Frequency – The benefits to cellular DNA appear to be cumulative; the more treatments that are given, the slower the aging process.  Most patients benefit from our package of 4 treatments per year.

FAQs

Most frequent questions and answers

Acne is the most common skin condition in the U.S. affecting nearly 50 million Americans at any time. Acne is caused when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. It can often be persistent and unsightly.

The Acne Clear BBL is a cutting-edge acne treatment that uses the power of light to comfortably and effectively clear acne without expensive creams or toxic medicines…

Brown sun and age spots are some of the first signs of aging and sun damage.

Treatment options include

  1. Creams such as hydroquinone and retin A.  Hydroquinone is a bleaching agent while Retin A increases cellular turnover.  Over-the-counter creams will generally not have high enough concentrations to be effective.
  2. Forever Young BBL – Cutting edge technology providing the most powerful and effective IPL option.

The Forever Young BBL uses Broad Band Light to alter skin melanin and rejuvenate cellular DNA.  Instead of spending time and money on ineffective skin care products many of our patients have turned to the Forever Young BBL to make their skin more vibrant and youthful; reducing brown and red pigmentation problems, promoting collagen, and rejuvenating cellular DNA. It is the most popular laser treatment in our clinic.

What to expect from the Forever Young BBL:

  • Treatments take 20-30 minutes
  • Up to 80% improvement after a single treatment.
  • Most patients will benefit from adding a Micro Laser Peel and a Profractional Laser Peel ( Triple Laser Package )
  • Fine facial lines and wrinkles are a result of UV sun damage, the breakdown of collagen, and a decrease in skin hydration. The Micro Laser Peel and the Profractional Laser are ablative lasers designed to reverse these changes.

    • The Micro Laser Peel precisely ablates the surface skin in order to remove UV damaged skin
    • The Profractional Laser ablates deep columns of skin that can reach to the deep dermis. This allows for skin contraction but it also encourages new cell grown and organizes new collagen

Results depend on the depth of treatment. Recovery from a maintenance treatment can be as little as a day; but recovery from aggressive treatments can be as much as 7 days. Many patients will benefit from the addition of the Forever Young BBL ( Triple Laser Package ).
