Why We Pair Breast Augmentations With Breast Lifts!6 min read

Plastic surgery has always been a hot potato for most women. If you look into the media, almost everyone has had at least one encounter with a plastic surgeon; this is nothing to be ashamed of. For some women, it’s all about the fulness of their lips; for others, about signs of natural aging, such as wrinkles and fine lines. And for a majority of women, it’s about their breast size. So why not have a procedure that will finally give you a look you have wanted for such a long time?

What Is a Breast Augmentation Procedure?

Before going through such a procedure, we first need to inform ourselves. Breast augmentation surgery, also known as “breast enlargement surgery” or “boob job,” is a procedure in which breast implants are inserted into your breasts to change their shape, increase their size or adjust their placement.

What Is a Breast Lift Procedure?

Usually, breast augmentation goes hand in hand with other cosmetic procedures for the desired aesthetic results. Here is where breast lift surgery comes into the picture.

Breast lifts are incredibly popular nowadays as the procedure is highly effective. This procedure removes the excess skin of the breast to give them a better shape. Although not many patients know this, breast augmentation and breast lifting procedures are often paired together.

What Is the Difference Between Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift?

To better understand what these procedures are all about, we have to look at the differences.

Breast augmentation makes your breasts more supple and increases their cup. The only problem is that breast augmentation cannot lift the saggy breast tissue. And because of this, plastic surgeons usually perform breast augmentation procedures together with a breast lift. The breast lift procedure does precisely what its name says: it lifts the breasts for a better shape and a perkier look.

Can You Get a Breast Augmentation and Breast Lift at the Same Time?

Of course, you can, and it is recommended that you do so. This pairing of procedures is sometimes essential to achieve your desired breast look. By pairing these two procedures at the same time, you do not only save time and skip another visit to the clinic, but you also avoid another recovery period. By having breast augmentation and breast lift procedures, you also give your surgeon the chance to truly shape your breasts as you wish. Pairing the two procedures gives you the possibility to talk about more details you wish to achieve, such as:

  • Breast shape;
  • Breast size;
  • Nipple size and placement;
  • Position of the breast;

How to Prepare for a Breast Augmentation Surgery with Lift

As with any surgery, there are a few steps you have to take before having the procedure:

Stay Healthy before Surgery

Try and keep yourself as healthy as possible before your surgery. It’s essential to maintain good hygiene and avoid sick people because illnesses can result in your surgery getting rescheduled. If you feel like you’re sick, it is advised to contact your plastic surgeon. Going under surgery when you are sick can result in dangerous complications.

Avoid Smoking

Smoking is already a dangerous habit, as it can impair your body’s healing process. Therefore, you have to steer clear of smoking for at least a month before surgery. In addition, keep away from nicotine and any nicotine-based products such as nicotine patches, vapes, e-cigarettes, THC-based products, and second-hand smoking.

Relax

Stress is a severe factor you have to avoid before the surgery. Any severe stress factor can disrupt your mental and physical health. Therefore, it’s essential to remain calm and relaxed before the procedure. If the thought of breast augmentation and breast lift procedures stresses you, consult with your plastic surgeon.

Avoid Some Products

Some products have to be avoided as they can increase the risk of complications during your surgery. The products are as follows:

  • Vitamin E;
  • Aspirin and any other medication containing aspirin;
  • Ibuprofen;
  • Anti-inflammatories;
  • Estrogen supplements;
  • Birth control;
  • St. John’s Wort;
  • Green tea and green tea extracts;
  • Garlic supplements.

Who Is the Ideal Candidate for Breast Augmentation Surgery with Lift?

Any candidate is ideal for these two procedures. For example, if you are looking for a perkier, bulkier, and tighter look for your breasts, breast augmentation and breast lift procedures are ideal for you!

Additionally, suppose you are trying to do something about your breast ptosis (i.e., breast sagging), which can appear after pregnancy, aging, hormonal changes, and significant weight loss. In that case, you are more than ideal for these procedures!

If you are trying to find what’s best for you or are unsure if you should get breast augmentation, a breast lift, or both, ask your plastic surgeon for help.

Breast Augmentation with Lift for Uneven Breasts

If you are trying to correct your uneven breasts form, combining these two procedures is the best choice to achieve your desired results. Your plastic surgeon can sculpt the breast tissue for a better result by having breast augmentation and breast lift procedures.

Breast Augmentation with Lift Recovery

Usually, patients go through at least a three-week recovery time. Depending on your recovery, if your job does not imply any heavy lifting or a stressful environment, you can return to work after a week or two. The bruising after the procedures should heal within two to three weeks.

Breast Augmentation Recovery Tips

For a fast and full recovery after the two procedures, you have to be careful with the following steps:

Stay Away from Underwire Bras

Underwire bras can be uncomfortable and must be avoided after breast surgery. Furthermore, underwire bras can irritate your skin, causing your incision to inflame because of the friction. This is the last thing your swollen and sensitive breast needs.

Instead, try switching to sports bras, medical bras, or lightly supportive bras for at least six weeks after the surgery.

Sleep on Your Back

Because your breast will be susceptible after the surgery, it is forbidden to sleep on your stomach. Sleeping on your stomach can move the breast implants or make them drop from their place, altering the surgery results.

Avoid Swimming and Bathing

Swimming and bathing should be avoided immediately after breast surgery. Getting your breasts underwater can cause bacteria to form in your wounds and lead to infection.

Breast Augmentation with Lift Cost

On average, the cost of breast augmentation surgery and breast lift procedure combined is somewhere around $6,000. However, the price varies depending on the plastic surgeon, country, and cup size.

How Long Does Breast Lift Surgery with Breast Implants Last?

The lifespan differs from one person to another. However, the breast lift with breast implants lasts between 10 to 15 years on average. Factors that can alter the lifespan of the breast lift with breast implants are:

  • Damage to your breasts;
  • Accidents;
  • Aging skin;
  • Pregnancy;
  • Weight fluctuation;
  • Breast support.
