Asian Rhinoplasty in Northern Virginia ( Loudoun, VA )

Procedure Details

29 year old asian female before and after closed rhinoplasty. Her main complaints included a bulbous or wide nasal bones and a nasal hump. During the consultation, she was able to see what she 'might' look like using the 3D Vectra camera which is able to alter the 3 dimensional profile right in front of her. Surgery included reduction and narrowing of the nasal bones, reduction of a nasal hump, and slightly turning up of the nasal tip. Procedure was performed at Loudoun Ambulatory Surgery Center in Leesburg, Virginia under general anesthesia.

Asian patients have characteristic features that are different than Caucasian counterparts.  In general:

  • The nasal bridge is generally flat and shallow
  • Bulbous or wide nasal tip
  • Wide nostrils relative to the nose

In contrast, Caucasian patients more typically have a nasal bump, larger nasal bones, and a wide nasal base.  Typically, a Asian rhinoplasty will require:

  • building up of the nasal bridge using septal or ear cartilage grafts or implants,
  • narrowing the nasal cartilages with inter-cartilaginous sutures and and nasal tip grafts and
  • narrowing of the nostrils with a wier excision

Surgery Time:

1.5 to 2 hours

Time to Return to Work:

  • Most patients will return to work in about 1 weeks if no other procedures are needed

Final results:

Final form takes 6 months to a year but it is like a curve.  Most will look pretty good in 2 weeks
