Gynecomastia is the abnormal enlargment of the male breast.

The cause of Gynecomastia is often not directly identified but some potential causes include:

  • normal genetics
  • drugs such as marijuana or some blood pressure medications
  • weight gain
  • estrogen
  • steroids

The treatment of Gynecomastia includes:

  • liposuction if there is not a lot of excess skin 
  • liposuction plus excision of breast tissue from around the nipple areola
  • Excisional breast reduction with either a T ( lollipop ) or anchor pattern ( see breast reduction )

Most patients can be treated by simple liposuction or liposuction plus a small excision of breast tissue.

Patients are of all ages ranging from 18 to 50+
